COLLEGE AUTHOR AND MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER ENCOURAGES YOUTH TO SUCCEED
Howard University Student, Erica Austin, Continues to Impact Young People

Erica Austin, Atlanta native and now Senior Speech and Applied Communication Major at Howard University, made headlines with her Trumpet Award-winning book What Every Child Should Know About Prayer: From a Child’s Point of View. Austin authored and published the book at nine years old.
Now, Austin is stepping back onto the literacy scene from a college student’s point of view. She has had her book reprinted, and she is currently working on her next book for teenage girls.
Erica, in addition to speaking at churches, schools, and other venues in the D.C. Metropolitan Area, has recently digitized her book club which focuses on “the other side of Hip-hop – Literacy.” Austin’s message is that Hip-hop is here to stay, and it holds the power to “promote positive social reform in today’s society.” Youth on the Move Achievers Book Club launched its new website days ago. The site allows those interested to join the book club and also take advantage of several useful resources (YouthOnTheMoveBookClub.com and EricaAustin.com).
Austin, from a young age, has communicated an inspirational message in her works as an author and public speaker for youth. Her story includes many honors and awards. She was a part of the 1999 Turner Broadcasting Trumpet Award "Meet the Authors" Panel. She also received an NAACP ACT-SO award and was honored by the National Council of Negro Women’s Ecumenical Hall of Fame.
Austin is available for speaking engagements, book signings, conferences, workshops, and other events. She compels young people to maximize their potential and utilize their God-given talents. Austin continues to be an exemplary student and mentor to others while currently working on her second book for teenage girls.
